A young bull calf that animal control officers affectionately nicknamed "Moodini" led San Antonio police and Animal Care Services on a chase through a Walmart parking lot and into an underground drainage tunnel before being safely captured.
A Walmart run, literally
The calf was spotted wandering toward a Walmart on Southeast Military Drive on the city's South Side, according to ACS. "He decided he needed to make a Walmart run that morning and spent quite a bit of time just running around the parking lot trotting around," said Lisa Norwood, ACS public relations manager. The calf even approached the store's front door before officers arrived.
Into the tunnel, and back out
Overwhelmed by the gathering crowd, Moodini bolted toward a nearby green space and, in Norwood's words, "decided to book it over to an underground drainage tunnel." Officers spent roughly 90 minutes coaxing him out before loading him into a livestock trailer. His owner was identified and picked him up the next day, and was cited for violating the city's livestock-at-large ordinance. "It is against the law for livestock to roam," Norwood noted, though she added: "all's well that ends well."
